ABOUT

LEAGUE 2018 - C DIVISION - EVENT 1 - 22 SEPTEMBER 2018 - INLOOP:
Requin (meaning Shark in French) Angling Club started in the 1970ís when a small group of friends and anglers from the Johannesburg and East Rand area decided to go kite angling at St. Lucia. The event was very popular and a club was formed that grew in numbers over the following years. Many sharks were landed and the technique for flying the kites and getting big baits into deep waters was refined and adapted over the years to also target other species, but the main target remained sharks for their fighting power that could not be matched. Later the Freshwater Angling division also took off to keep the anglers busy between trips to the coast. The club has produced many Protea and Provincial anglers over the years in both Rock and Surf and Freshwater facets, and still actively participates in league and trials in both facets.

The Freshwater division hosts club competitions on the first Saturday of each month at various venues (mostly around the Vaal area) and we invite any angler that would like to be more competitive and learn more to join us on an outing. We also participate in 3 Gauteng Freshwater Bank Angling Association (GFBAA) League competitions per year, and also promote and encourage families and especially youngsters to get more involved.

The Rock and Surf division of the club participates in 3 Central Gauteng Shore Angling Association (CGSAA) League competitions as well as one social club competition in September each year.

The club strives to build the strength of the club by sharing the knowledge gained by all the members, and we also host fishing clinics from time to time on both facets.
